PTSA President's Message

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students,

On behalf of the entire PTSA executive board, I would like to welcome you back to school for the 2020-2021 school year.

If you had asked me last year at this time, never in my wildest dreams would I think that Highland Oaks would be starting the school year online. I know students miss being on campus and miss interacting with their teachers and friends. As we were not able to have our annual first day coffee event, I truly missed seeing all of you and welcoming you back to school and meeting our new families in person.

We are still getting used to the new way that school will be taught virtually.  All of us, parents, teachers and students have had to make big adjustments in our lives to make virtual learning work. I think it is important at this time to show patience, empathy and kindness towards others especially towards the teachers and staff who have worked so hard to prepare for distance learning as they work through glitches in technology and refine teaching methods during these first few days and weeks of school.

While it feels like everything has changed, some things have not, including our passion and dedication as parents to our children so that they will continue to have the best education and experiences possible during their elementary school years and beyond. All of the board members share this dedication and passion. Even though things will be different this year, our goal is to still be able to plan some events that will be fun and safe and bring our community together. We welcome your fun ideas and hope to make it happen!

I ask that if you have not already done so to please join PTSA by becoming a member.  Please help us reach our goal of 100% membership!  Being a PTSA member gives you the right to vote on important decisions and provides access to PTSA meetings and the PTSA budget.  Our online membership link to sign up and pay for membership is as follows:

In addition, we have some executive board and committee chair vacancies that still need to be filled due to recent unforeseen changes.  If you would like to explore helping out in any capacity, please contact me or Sharon Liu.

I know that as we all work together this will be a great and memorable year! Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  We are only a text or email away!

Warmest regards,

Tim Snyder
